April is Soy Foods Month! So many clients say to me “I can’t eat soy.” Cancer patients tend to have a fear of eating soy because of decades old research done on rats. Since then, there have been plenty of well-designed human research studies  showing that soy is safe and does not negatively affect women with breast cancer. In fact, women who consumed the most soy, were less likely to die early. I used this month as an opportunity to address these fears and reassure everyone that soy is safe. We also had a great time tasting different soy foods, such as edamame, soy smoothies, and soy avocado pudding.
